What is your favorite thing about advocacy?

I believe advocacy is absolutely essential to progress in our society. Too often today we see people entrenched with issues in their own daily life that they forget that government, from local to national and all levels in between, exists to serve them, listen to their perspectives, and alleviate problems in the most effective way. Advocacy is a reminder of this power we wield as citizens and individuals.

What have you learned from YAPA?

YAPA has taught me both soft and hard skills in many areas. The policy research we conduct has helped me develop my writing and critical thinking, and participating in and leading this organization has helped me become a better communicator and strengthened my work ethic.
